Loans, Water and Farmers

I have been reading the news for a couple of days now, I don't know why the loans to farmer, idea from the Indian govt. has attracted my attention so much.

I was just wondering on what the government is trying to do to these poor farmers. They are getting them the fish instead of helping them to fish.Hope you get it.One of the agendas of any government that comes to ruling in the center has been linking all the rivers of India. This idea of linking all the rivers is a hot topic till they come to power, after they come to power nobody even opens their mouth about this.
Hope you understand where I am going.

Let me now explain what I am thinking, the government is spending lots of money as loans to these poor farmers.Do they ever notice, why these farmers ever go into such a state of poverty. Most probably it would have been the failing monsoons or some crop disease. Its most likely the failing monsoon. While the northern parts of India is gifted with perennial rivers, the thirst of the south is quenched by the seasonal ones.So when the monsoon fails, the rivers too fail.If the rivers fail, the crops die and so do the farmers who are waiting to harvest them.

In order to make up for this loss of crops, what does the government do, give these farmers loans to live.Does the meager money it gives them help them get water for their lands?? Or does it help them keep alive till the next monsoon??
Why does the government never want to think of solving problems for the long run?

If they were to use the money they have borrowed from various sources to give these poor farmers, to link the rivers there will be no water scarcity in some places and floods in others.

But I guess this is all a part of the vote bank drive. If they solve this problem now, what will they write in their agenda for the next 5 years to solve, right. What will they have to promise, for the votes?

Its one of Those Days

Its one of the days, I feel least productive. Those days I want to run away from being me.Its those weird days I wish I never had to spend time being me.
I have not done even a single productive thing since morning today.I have simply not done anything except, think about what I am doing and why on earth am I doing what I am doing right now.
A simple enumeration of what all I did today makes me feel horrible.I had wasted a lot of precious time.Time something more precious than money.Phew!!
I went on to do the following things:

1. Create an account in a new website.
2. Watch some news on NDTV.com
3. Eat noodles, curse the bad taste of top ramen oriental flavor.
4. Try looking at my recently implemented project.
5. Check a lot of fotos.
6. Celebrate the birthday of my friends, virtually.
7. Take care that I trouble one of my friends well.
8. Eat a bowl of grapes :D

Does not look like a very good list of things to have done. But anyways spent a lot of time on friends :)...Life building exercise section u c.

Summers past

Sitting in my home on a hot summer afternoon filled me with memories of summers past.
The slant of the sun's rays reminded me of my summer holidays, made me travel back in time and filled me with the sweet memories of my childhood.

Summer holidays meant fun to me and a pain to my parents. They would not know what to do with extremely active kids bouncing off the walls at home.So for the first part of the holidays, they used to send me to some arts classes. The classes were carefully chosen after reviewing my reaction to each of their names. They would put me in the class whose very name made my face look bored and dull.Seriously, for a kid who loved running around a lot, sitting in a "pattu class" or "needle and thread" class was extreme boredom.
While I tried my best to convince them that dance class, karate class or any of such other classes were fun, they sent me to one of these horrendously boring classes. So after returning from such a boring class, I was bound to be quite and irritated with the hw they had given me there. So this is how the first 1.5 months of my holidays went by.Then came a stretch of month or so, this was the most painstakingly long time for my mom and fun time for me :D.She had to force me finish my holiday homeworks and also keep track of what all mischief I was up to.With a little brother following every step of yours, I know how difficult it is to keep my little blunders a secret.
So here I was with a little spy peeking at what ever I was doing from behind my back.
How I wished the little devil was more an angel!!So every holiday from my 2nd class till 6th class went about like this.
After 6th class life changed, myself my brother got bitten by the video games bug.So my parents were happy that the little pests were in a single room most of the time.Though we fought over the player chances and who is a better player and brought the roof down,we still were under the watchful eyes of my mom.At the end of 3 months of that particular holidays we had finished one full set of games and were waiting for more to come.
We used to play cricket, broke a couple of window panes in our own house.Got scolded for not being careful enough :).Then the long gardening sessions, of getting water from the tap near the well and pouring water to each of the plants with personal care for each of them.
We used to hold cycle races while delivering goods at my aunt's place and going out to get maggi for evening snack time :D.
Playing running and catching, getting flowers from the jasmine tree, playing hide and seek and of course going out and eating some crappy stuff at tiny chaat shops.

Recollecting these happy memories, I spent my evening wondering, may be I should have done more things in those days.I get to smile at them so will my parents, but I surely know they would have been so tired of keeping up with me then.
Thanks mom and dad for putting up with the little pest I was :D.

MARCHed

The month of March has always been very important in my life. Not just because the board exams are scheduled to happen this time of the year, its also because its the first month after I was born :D.
Many Significant things happened during various March in my life some sad, some happy and there were uneventful Marches too.
But the March of '08 is one of the most cherished ones in my life(March of '07 became one such March after some events that followed it).But coming back to March'08, I went back home after a long time. For a person who had never left home for more than 2 months an eight month stay outside ones homeland is a huge time.
I was back home for just 17 days, but filled all the days with as much things I could do in a day.I enjoyed a lot with my brother.I missed him the most in my life outside home, he was a lot of support and gave me lots of insane ideas.Even at the most diff situation his advice could bring smile to my lips.
I missed the sounds of the day in an average Chennai day.Simple things like the milk cooker whistling, the birds chirping, the vegetable vendor crying hoarse to sell vendakai, the cobbler calling out for torn slippers.I missed the mosquitoes, I missed the bumps on the road..I was missing everything that had been a part of my life in the city. Most of all I missed home, the smell of mom's cooking.
I took all of these things I missed and tried to take in all of them in one go.One March, a two week period, I lived the life meant for the next one year in India.
I would never agree that I had enuff of it, but still I made an attempt to get content with this trip.
It felt like time was flying, indeed March just marched past me.

This is a post to thank all my friends and my dear family for putting up with my
insanity.I miss all of u a lot.Spl thanks to those ppl who bunked work to go out with me ;)..I know I have taken a lot of your casual hols, hope u would agree it was all worth it :).

public Transport

I have been blogging for about 2 years now.So looking back I have blogged quite a lot about the day to day problems I got to face in India.Things that I felt were issues and problems for which I strongly sided. But after moving to the US, I found that the problems I am facing in everyday life are more at a personal level than in the surrounding.Yeah I guess thats why problems here are way too different than the problems in our cities.

A typical example would be traveling in a bus in my city in India, it was an experience unto itself.Getting the bus on time was a problem and it not being crowded was another. But still it was very well ventilated. So when ever you are in a typical public transport bus, unless you are inches away from the next person or some one is drunk, the place does not exactly feel nauseating. But here we have air-conditioned buses, I don't know why every possible way of getting fresh air into living spaces is stopped. But anyways,so here we are in a absolutely cold bus with sleepy faces sipping morning coffee or coke and most of them smelling of sleep(u know that muffled smells of sleeping).Hence as soon as u enter the bus the smell is over powering and you start feeling sleepy right in the morning.

You would think whats personal in this, well me feeling sleepy rt in the morning after all the bathing, coffee drinking and breakfast eating is not a good thing to happen.

By this post, I don't glorify public transport in my city, its just a random comparison of simple joy of breathing fresh air, with lot of dust, automobile fumes, random chicken shop egg curry smell and may be a drunken fella in the bus and extremely comfortable looking, sealed from any weather and boring mode of transport.

Lost

Yeah I have been to Lost in thoughts these days.At any given point of time I simply keep thinking about something or the other. Its not that no one does it, but I am this no care person who keeps observing my environment all the time, but today I sit here and not look too much around. As soon as I am to myself I quit observing around and drown in my own imaginary world of thoughts and arguments.

I was not this kind of person before. But too much into this weird kind of thinking about something all the time, is not keeping me cool.So those who are reading my blog can u tell me what to do about this, have you ever been so much into thinking aka worried?

A new Year

I had been wanting to blog more frequently this year at least, alas my laziness got the better of me.Here I am making a new year post on 23rd of January.

Anyways, its been a busy month I should say.I had come back from LA on the 3rd of Jan.A boring 6 hrs and odd journey back home. The change in weather was extremely prominent on arriving home.Temperatures had reached below zero.I on the other hand returning from sunny California immediately fell ill.Was having cold sore throat and fever for the next two weeks.

In all this mess, classes started too. Here I was with high fever, bad throat and extremely weak, attending classes.I seriously wanted to run away that week. But somehow, health improved a bit and now I am back to studyin and doing my boring homeworks.

My new year resolutions included:

>>More freq blogging :P
>>Eating on time
>>Sleepin for 7 hrs everyday(cos I am ill I over do this)
>>Keeping a diary
Well thats all for now folks...be back with more stuff soon
