No Mention

Was reading this old post on my reader : POST(yes I have a month long backlog in reading). It was interesting how things happening in politics are so similar irrespective of the state, language and people. People are not sensitive about small things, its only the other major forces in our society that make it an issue. Its the same with religious sentiments. These are played a lot more in our country. I have seen some problems myself where in the average person would not feel too bad about it, like the simple issue of releasing The Da Vinci Code movie in Chennai. Many groups brought about a ban on it, I was amused by this cause, if they had extreme faith, even after watching that movie they should not be moved or change. Its just a work of fiction, on the other hand they banned it and made it look like they had a fickle faith. My friends who were Christians, felt that this action of banning the film was unwanted and silly. There was this other movie Anbe Sivam, in which the hero says there is no god and plays opposite to a strong hindu theist and says a lot of stuff about god not existing blah blah, I watched that movie. I did not feel that my sentiments were hurt. Its a fiction , another person's opinion, just because I think something I can't make someone else think that way by forcing them. But that's exactly what is happening now, like that post says, someone was offended so expects everyone else to agree to it. Sad! The part of that post that I liked and always felt was, if someone says they are big people and awesome and all that the criticism of what they do by one person or a group of people should not affect them badly.

My experience with DishNetwork

So here is how my experience with DishNetwork customer care goes:
I call at 10 pm local time and a someone named Danielle takes my call.
I tell her that I have been charged extra for a technician visit. The technician had to visit as the new Dish they set up was not working and had been giving trouble for 1 month or so.She goes on to ask some related questions, puts me on hold and comes back and tells me we charge for technician visits, as you are under a subscription, we charge you a lesser fee. I go on to explain that I was not told that this charge was coming and that the customer care could not help me on the phone and they themselves offered to send in a technician to look at the problem. She again went on the whole loop of explaining the plan and the charges. I told her again that I was not told about this and the dish network connection was not working correctly, even after trouble shooting on the phone they could not resolve it, so its something they offered to help me with, so how is it fair to charge me?
From the dialogue that followed hence I understood that I had not paid any extra fees to get this subsidized price, so I should not be making this call about paying this amount. I was very frustrated at this, it is none of anyone's business to decide how much I can pay. I then told her,I am disappointed and that they should understand what I am telling, but she was more keen on explaining their side of the charges.Following which I went on a rant of how I feel that I should just not complain or what(I feel this is unfair blah blah) and then the phone went blank for a few minutes, I thought she hung up and so I said hello, after which she comes back, I ask her one final time if she can do something, all I got was a no.
I mean what kind ugly service was this, they are making it look as though I was asking for something wrong. I was asking them why would they charge to repair something that they had not set up correctly. If they could have troubleshooted on the phone then they could have right? They could not, and so they sent the technician in. They were giving me the idea that they are subsidizing the price for me for no extra cost and so I should not make a fuss. I am telling them, its not a problem of how much to pay, its about informing me before, not surprising me with an amount on my bill.
Well, after numerous phone calls and lots of technician visits the service is restored, but at the end of it, I am not sure if I will extend this contract or call their customer(don't)care again.

Blogging

Its been so long since I blogged that I had to click the " I forgot my password" link on Google today to get in here.

I have watched a lot of movies, gone to a lot of new places, made a trip back home and living in the cold corner of Florida, in these few months that I have not blogged.
Let me start with something interesting from last year before I go on cribbing about the new year and the new challenges.

I got a chance to go home again last year.
It was one of those trips that drag out of your routine and spins you, and puts you back. It was fun, the spin part, but then the going and coming back into schedule part was hard to digest. I had whole lot of fun and did not make any long trips this time. Spent a lot of time home and with my family and friends.

Then came the the trip to Universal Studios.
In December I went to Universal studios, finally! Yes I lived at close proximity to this place, but never gone there till now.It was simply beautiful, it was Christmas eve and the place looked very beautiful.

And then there was the new year.
It was a different kind of a new year celebration this year, I was in a theater watching Sherlock Holmes. It was fun, cause this was the never the way I had ever celebrated it.

With the new year came new resolutions, the very troubling resolutions.
One of them was at least one blog post per month. And here it is the one post per month's quota.

Let me find more interesting stuff to blog more often!
